As a psychic-medium for over twenty years it comes as no surprise when dreams tell the future or connect us to other places or people. For me psychic powers are self-evident. I experience them in my work when I communicate with the dead or demonstrate psychic and prophetic powers on the media. Similarly, my wife is also a medium so it is not only common for us to share dreams but we also experience telepathy during normal waking life. Our empathy is such that I blew up like a balloon when Jane was pregnant and she knows if I am in danger or distress. She will even beams me a shopping list if I go to the 24/7 Store to get some provisions. Invariably I return with obscure items she forgot to mention before I left!

For our family psychic powers are part of every day life. I believe that these powers can be discovered in just about anyone and one of the richest areas for personal experiment are our dreams. 

I always meditate before doing psychic or mediumistic work. Without this period of attunement my psychic and mediumistic abilities are much less active and my demonstrations and consultations may be a struggle. For me, and most true psychic-mediums, meditation is essential for the successful use of ESP gifts. Since the dream state is a highly relaxed condition dreams connect with these same relaxed inner states that is discovered during meditation. Dreams are a productive place for psychic experiences.  Parapsychologists agree and have found that a degree of relaxation is necessary for success in their laboratory experiments. Deep relaxation helps to minimize interference from conscious thoughts and allows the intuition to become dominant.

A great many people, who make no claim to having psychic powers in waking life, discover that their sixth sense awakens when they dream. The extensive experiments made between 1930 – 1960 by Dr. Louisa Rhine (the wife of the famous parapsychologist Joseph Banks Rhine) evaluated over 10,000 cases of spontaneous psychic events. She found that over half of them occurred during dreams. Most of these psychic dreams were about future events and included everything from tragic events to the banal. Often these psychic dreams related to loved ones but also sometimes were about complete strangers.

Clearly, sleep is an altered state that anyone can experience and is an easy way to make your own fascinating study into the paranormal. In one study of 290 random dream reports, researchers found that 38 of them –8.8 percent – could be classified as paranormal to one extent or another. Psychic dreams are commonplace yet intriguing. I am sure that everyone can discover the psychic side of their dreams if they want to. Psychic dreams can also be a tremendous help in that they may help you to avoid pitfalls and discover new ways to find good fortune. But most importantly they give you a glimpse into yourself and your own extraordinary potential. In some cases psychic dreams may even save your life!

When working with psychic dreams and particularly with those that appear to tell the future, it is important to keep our feet on the ground. Remember that dreams speak to us in symbols. Sometimes these symbols may represent events in the real world and even prophecies about the future. However most dreams express the way you feel and reflect your fears and worries. If you dream about a car crash or an accident this is probably not a prediction. This is a classic symbol for feeling that your life is out of control. You are in danger of an emotional crash. Similarly many people worry if they dream about death but this may be a symbol to represent a part of your personality is not used or the ending of one phase of life so that another one can begin. We will look at the meaning of symbolism throughout this book to help you to sort out your psychic dreams from the ones that express your fears.

No dream about the future deals in certainty. Your dreams deal with probability, or likelihood because the future is not set in stone. We have free will to choose our way ahead. Psychic dreams are not an excuse to abdicate your responsibility or to bemoan your fate. Psychic dreams give you insight into potential pitfalls and signpost the way to good fortune; they do not see the future. You are responsible for the future by the choices you make today.

Most of our dreams are filled with what Freud called Tagesreste - the "day-residue" of our jobs, relationships, and other things that influence our lives and cause us worry. But there are also instances when dream touch the same worlds that our ancestors knew- a world of gods, deities, demons, and angels where the familiar world we know disappears. These dreams transcend the banal world of ordinary life and lead you through the inner labyrinth to the very heart of your being. Psychic dreams put you in touch with the centre of the soul, giving you insight into the twists and turns of life, empowering you to take charge of your destiny, and enabling you to create a brighter future.
