The Timeless Wisdom of the Tibetans
A Beginners Guide to Tibetan Buddhism and Tibetan Healing
By Craig Hamilton-Parker

Tibetan mysticism explained from the standpoint of a Spiritualist medium. Shows how to apply mysticism to everyday life.

AUTHOR'S COMMENT:

I am first and foremost a Spiritualist medium but have been very influenced by Tibetan ideas- particularity as one of my main spirit guides is a Tibetan spirit. The Timeless Wisdom of the Tibetans explains and sometimes questions the Buddhist beliefs and helps to square the fact that there is both an afterlife as well as reincarnation.

In this book I look at the Tibetan Buddhist philosophy and endeavour to give practical advice that can be applied to everyday life. Tibetan Buddhism - and particularly it's Shamanism aspect called Bon can - at first appear a little perplexing to the novice Western reader. But once you strip away some of the mysticism you discover that the Tibetans have a unique and intriguing take on the teachings of the Buddha.

As a medium working in the Spiritualist tradition I am of course also interested in discovering how the ideas of an afterlife and the continuation of the personality after death square with the beliefs of Buddhism. In places I deviated from the publisher's brief and explored some of these intriguing areas.

This is not my best book as it was commissioned as part of a series and so had a number of constraints but it is nonetheless I believe a very simple and easy to understand introduction to the world of Tibetan Buddhism.
