GUIDES AND ANGELS
Can
angels be our spirit guides?

 There
seems to be a great deal of confusion regarding Spirit Guides
and Angels with quite a lot of mediums
claiming to have angels acting as Spirit Guides. While many
may wish this could be true, there is no evidence whatsoever
for such a supposition. When we look at it logically, we
have to ask the question "Why should Angels do the
job for which Spirit Guides are trained and at which they
excel? There is no purpose served.
The philosophy of Spiritualism falls into the School of
Realistic Philosophy as it is factually based. Spiritualists
assert "There is no death; life continues and communication
between the two worlds of being can, and does, take place."
This assertion is then validated by the spirit contacts
given by mediums when evidence of survival is given to recipients
by their families and friends. It is communicators whose
lives are known in great intimacy by their families that
provide evidence for survival, not angels or even guides
for that matter.
Spirit Teachings, given when the mediums are in a state
of deep trance,
talk of spirit guides, never of angels and it would be supposed
that if angels did take up the reins of guidance for certain
individuals, there would be some record of this. I am sure
there have been books written recently where it is claimed
angels are the communicating spirits but if this is the
case then some form of substantiating evidence for this
should be forthcoming.
Spirit Guides have proved their existence over and over
again, not only through trance mediumship, but they have
materialised in physical seances and spoken of themselves
and their lives on earth to the sitters. There are many
photographs taken at these seances showing the guides in
all their splendour. There are no photographs of Angels
manifesting in a materialised form so again, the question
must be asked "Why not?"
It is easy to understand, however, how a Spirit Guide could
be mistaken for an Angel. If a Spirit Guide appears, in
a spontaneous vision, to an inexperienced medium, there
is a radiance around them and a feeling of deep peace which
emanates from them and the recipient of such a vision really
does feel that he/she is in the presence of someone wondrous
- an Angel? No. A beautiful Spirit Guide with whom we are
privileged and honoured to share time and work with for
the spirit cause.
When a medium is entranced, even on a very light level,
by one of his/her Spirit Guides, the influence of the Guide
can be so powerful that the medium will be overcome with
the sheer beauty of the personality which draws near; a
feeling of love for all people and a compassion beyond that
ever experienced before will also be felt, and quite often
tears will pour from the medium's eyes as his/her soul is
touched - by spirit. It is an indescribable spiritual experience
and has a lasting effect upon the medium.
So Spirit Guides look like, and bring the feelings, we
associate with Angels but we must allow the beings who glory
in the name of Angels, and who are close to the Godhead,
the freedom to carry out the celestial tasks assigned to
them and rejoice in the fact that as mediums we are blessed
with the friendship and love of our Spirit Guides who to
us, are our personal angels.
