How can I see ghosts and spirits?

This is the event that led me to believe in the paranormal.

One night when I was about 4 or 5 (Though I still remember with great detail) I was at my uncle's old house. It was late, not exactly sure what time, and me and my cousins were playing flashlight tag out in the yard. I was it, looking for my cousins, when I walked around the side of the house in front of a large window looking into the dining room. I looked in to see if my cousins had run in (I still hadn't found them) and I saw a woman in probably her late teens or early twenties in a white dress with brown hair down to about her mid back. She was looking strait at me and giving a kind of Mona Lisa half smile. She held her hand up like she was greeting me, and I felt oddly calm considering the situation. I knew she was a spirit of some kind because I could see the mirror behind her through her. I ran into the kitchen through the back door to see who she was, running directly through the kitchen into the dining room. When I arrived, she had dissapeared. My parents and my aunt and uncle were talking in the next room, next to the only other door out, and when I told them, they thought I was telling stories, as did my cousins when they came in. To this day only a few believe me.

I would like to note that this ghost, or angel, or whatever was not a mist or a glare, but looked nearly solid. I also was wondering if anyone knew of any methods to improve ones Sight. This being my only experience, I wish to see more, and if possible, communicate, since the spirit seemed to respond to me. Maybe I'll get lucky and see the girl again as well. Please answer, anyone who can.

I was also wondering just now, is there was any way to get in touch with that particular spirit?

Also, just curious, why did the title of my thread change?

It is said that children are more open to seeing spirit than adults, it is a natural inherant ability we are all born with. As we grow older the adults will tell us that we are being silly and such like. THis ability is still within us and if you do wish to raise that awareness again you could avail of development classes. Have a look for your nearest spiritualist church or this site offers classes if you join as a member, which will dispell all the fairytales and scary rubbish which are attached to spirit. im writting on the post this apprehention of a spirit you saw and asked how to embark upon it again un fortunatly it dont work as easy as that a spirit must come to u not u go out to find it i know this as im a spiritualist medium my self at the time you saw this manafestation of a spirit was you feeling down upset worried in any way at all if so it could be a family member, guardian angel, or just a spirit come to take the feeling you had away at the time if you need more info best thiong to do is pop along to your local spiritualist church for more help on this matter

This is my first post. I am very excited to have found you. I have seen ghosts since I was a little girl, couldn't even give you an age. I used to be afraid but now I ignore it, or at least try. It is a bit frightening even though I know they won't hurt me. Yet, you wonder about the ghosts that don't look you in the face.

I have always been very spiritually inclined. I do tarot cards, not commercially, and have been since age 12 because of a magazine at the grocery store. I attract ghosts. I see, hear and feel them. Actually I have helped several retain light because I've felt their pain. I would love to open my spiritual self up but am afraid to trust because of a previous incident that was in fact a spiritual warning that caused no harm. For me to be able to write all this is overwhelming cause people don't understand.

I have seen a couple of spirits and a ghost also, the first spirit i seen was my mom, i was sitting on the porch in the afternoon last year and i looked over to where her tree plant was and i could see her , couldn't believe it i could tell she was wearing something bright blue because it really stood out ,i could see her face/hair/skin and she was wearing sunglasses, the other spirit was a male spirit it happened in my hall near the living room he also was very clear.
I also have seen a shadow in front of my bedroom door, very large could see the outline of it, my tree plant moves and the branches have shook while sitting right beside it, i have had black and white flashes also in the hall.
I was told just to tell the spirits you want to communicate with them, try that and see what happens.

i recall seeing some stuff when I was younger as well. I think literally seeing stuff just occurs more frequently in children. It carries on for some adults. But I dont think there is anything you can do for literally seeing spirits but you can train to sense them through practicing forms of meditation and what not.

some ppl just have more luck i guess.

my daughter aged 11 can see and speak to ghosts.she has always been able to see them but never speak. she found out how to speak in a mag. i tried it but i couldnt do it . if you have any qestions to ask do not hesatate to ask im sure she would be happy to answer them !!!!!!!!!

Hello Yinwolf, have you tried meditating? If you work on opening your chakras it could help you be more receptive to spirits. I'm not sure if you could contact the same spirit you saw when you were a child though.

This makes me curious,for even though I am a sensitive person who are extremely perceptive to moods I still rarely experience anything ghostlike nowadays.Or rather,I find it hard to distinguish what?s paranormal from what I believe to be my own imagination.
I?m wondering,does a somewhat neurotic and high-strung personality make you less sensitive to the important impressions?
I remember that once a relative to me told me she had a message from my dead grandfather who had shown himself to her.When I asked her why he didn?t contact me in person she said he didn?t want to frighten me as he knew I was over-sensitive and a bit neurotic.
The funny thing is several people in my childhood claimed that they could see I had some kind of paranormal sensitivity.

when i was at my friend's house a couple of years ago (their house is 104 years old and used to be a school) my friend fell asleep but i was wide awake. i looked out her door. they had a hallwasy outside that had no lights. there was just a window, and the only light was the moonlight shining through. when i looked out, i heard footsteps coming up the stairs. (the stairs were right by the hallway) then, i saw a shadow of a man walking down the hallway. i totally freaked out and pulled the covers over my head and pretended i was sleeping.

i have seen orbs on pictures too from my grandmas house that was really old.

please tell me how to comunicate with spirits if you know how. id really like to know.

Ok for all of you people on this forum, everyone is born with the ability to see spirits, but you have to be able to channel your energy into seeing them. Most spirits can not hide themselves from you, unless they are very powerful. If you alert the spirits you are aware of them, they can and will attack your body. Most people only claim to see the spirits, but if you can truly see them, and are not just making them up, you will know you have a gift. Look around any watchtowers, grain bins, etc. as this is where the town guardians usually are, Gargoyles. You can almost always see spirits of railroad workers that were worked to death. You can see them working on railroads and some re-living there death experience, these are called lichings. Most spirits are harmless wanderers, but some, such as flesh-rippers, can be very dangerous. If you notice you start seeing spirits, you can get synthesized, which will make your ability to see them much greater. Dogs are the primitive animals and they are also town guardians in the sense that any spirit they come across, if harmful, they will eat the spirit. Some people have special abilities, some are leeches, some are seeders, such as myself, I can channel my energy into a certain person and make them more powerful. Well carbon what can I say except stop watching so much fiction on tv and thinking its real!!!! Spirits attacking people's bodies? Flesh rippers? Gargoyles? Dogs eating spirits? lol Pure fiction. And as for seeing people like railroad workers, that would just be a rerun of the energy or ghosts. That is not the same at all as spirits. It is just a recording in time. When we go over to spirit we have much better things to do than hang around causing mayhem. One thing I do agree with though is that we can all work towards spirit communication if we want to. If what you were saying was true though, who on earth would want to!!!! I would suggest that a little real education might allow you to understand what the spirit world is really like.
