POSITIVE THINKING ADVICE
I want to improve the power of my mind. Sometimes I feel in a good mood but usually I am a very negative person. Reading books has helped me and I have recently started a course on Reflexology. How can I make a start at changing myself to become a more optimistic and positive person?

You have already made a start by admitting to yourself that you have a problem and that your negative attitude is holding you back. I’m also sure that the books and reflexology will help. May people suffer from a habit of negative thinking that may have lasted for many years. It takes effort and perseverance to correct your thinking and feelings.
The key to success is to influence the subconscious mind and set up new habits and behaviour. The subconscious responds to repetition. Repeating a positive affirmation to yourself will make it respond. Try saying something like: “Every day in every way things are getting better.”
In addition, you can trick the emotions into responding favourably. When we smile it releases chemicals in the brain that make us feel good. Try looking in the mirror and grinning at yourself. Don’t feel self conscious- just do it. You will be amazed at how good it makes you feel. Also, make sure you smile when you meet people. It will make you feel good and they will respond to you. Turn yourself into a smile millionaire!
These two very simple techniques will revolutionise your behaviour. In addition, let your mind fix on positive thoughts that make you happy. I believe doing this actually attracts good luck. My motto that has kept me thinking in a positive way is this: “That upon which I fix my attention will grow in strength”.
My guru, Sai Baba, advises that we are reminded to take control of ourselves every time we look at our wristwatch. “W-A-T-C-H: Watch your Words, Actions, Thoughts, Character and Heart.”
