While I was in India someone told me an amusing true story about an American who was hoping to speak to his guru. He was soon to discover that this was not as simple as he had thought. He would have to wait until he was called from the thousands of devotees gathered in the ashram and may not get an interview at all.

Eventually the guru indicated that he would talk to him and invited him into his interview room. “I’ve travelled all the way from America and been kept waiting nearly seven days to see you,” said the American in an angry tone.

The guru smiled and with a twinkle in his eye replied, “And I’ve been waiting for you nearly two thousand years!”

"BECOMING A PSYCHIC OR MEDIUM REQUIRES PATIENCE"

Clearly we need to be patient when it comes to spiritual matters. Spiritual insight unfolds when the time is right. Just as the guru appears when our heart is ready so too our spiritual powers only unfold at the right time. It is our soul that sets the celestial alarm clock and because of this you will instinctively know when the time is right for your own spiritual development. When the call comes events will conspire to lead you along the right path and bring you to the right teachers with the most suitable teachings for you. The truth will draw you like a magnet.

Is the time right for you to develop your latent powers? Perhaps strange coincidences and phenomena have already been happening to you? Maybe you have had common psychic experiences such as knowing who is on the other end of the phone when it rings or having dreams that come true. You may be aware of the good or bad vibrations of a building or the energies that surrounding another person. And I am hoping that you will use these powers in the service of others so that light may be pure and shine far into the darkness cast by this materialistic age. Mediumship is a divine calling that requires you to examine your heart before you can proceed. It is a holy office.

In my own case I did not particularly want to be a psychic medium but as soon as I sat in circle I realised that this was something that is supposed to happen in my life. There were times when I rejected the gift and in anger cursed the fact that I was a medium. It was making me too sensitive and also had turned my material life upside down. But even when I felt despondent or wished I had not started out on the path something would always happen to remind me of the importance of the work. This would often come in the form of a ‘chance’ meeting with someone I had helped and who would tell me how my mediumship had changed his or her life and sometimes even saved it. I would be reminded about how much good this work can do for others and the joy it can bring into this world. These serendipity reminders can also help you to see the bigger picture. Today there is nothing I enjoy more than a vibrant public meeting to demonstrate my mediumship and see the suffering of bereavement lifted when we know the joy of living never ends.
