Although you extend your humanitarian attitude to the animal kingdom and may fight for their rights, you're not the best of pet owners. This is because you expect all of God's creatures to be as independent and self-sufficient as you are. You are hardly the most doting and affectionate of people and are unlikely to overwhelm your pets with displays of emotion. Consequently you must be absolutely sure you want a pet and are prepared to look after its needs long-term.

Aquarians don't look to pets for affection; they look to them for friendship. Once you get the routines in place and stick to them you'll find that the old adage is right. A man's best friend really is his dog. But being ruled by the innovative Uranus it will not just be an ordinary dog. You'll inevitably choose something unusual. Perhaps you'll choose the Portuguese Water Dog- the rarest breed in the world- or maybe a Shar-pei- one of the oddest looking dogs in the world. Being an Aquarian you'll have to have something different.
