What To Do When You Are Dead is my book about the afterlife and an attempt to understand what happens to us after we die. My work as a Spiritualist medium has seen me give thousands of spirit messages to loved ones from the Spiritualist platform, in private sittings, at the theatre and on Television.
Most message are simply communications to give comfort and advice to the person sat in front of me. For most people this is enough as it enables them to pick up the pieces and start again. But to a thinking person mediumship challenges us to ask many more questions such as ‘What is the afterlife like?’ and ‘What is it that survives death?’.
I had noticed over the years that the spirit communicators had left many clues to the nature of the world beyond this one. Often there were cryptic messages such as ‘Over here we do not age you know’ or ‘time is different in our world’..... all sorts of strange ideas that were given to me but not – as far as I am aware – from my own imagination.
So I brought these snippets together to see if I could build a picture of what the next world in like based upon my own personal experience that came via my mediumship. I then looked at traditional religion and spiritualist philosophy to see where there were common threads.
I discovered that there were many similarities in afterlife philosophies in what one would at first would consider to be totally opposed religious ideas. But there was clearly also fallacy and fantasy intertwined. Separating the myths and misconceptions from the truth was no easy ask and it would be arrogant of me to say I now have the final truth – but I do believe I have filtered out many of the mistaken beliefs and can offer you here a realistic model of what the next world is like.
This book is not another Spiritualist preaching fantasy. I have in places been critical of traditional Spiritualism and tried to be harsh on my own work too; but I have also found so many correlations with the ideas of mediums in Hindu, Jewish, Christian and Islamic religion. The truth is the truth and is crystal clear if only we can put aside our preconceptions and beliefs.
I hope in this book I will make you think and trust your own direct experience rather than rely on what other people say. I urge the reader to meet mediums, question and verify the evidence they are given and also - through meditation and spiritual practice - connect directly to the next world.
You may eventually conclude as I do that religion, philosophy and science are paths to the same mountain top.
