Wendy Richard,
who plays Pauline in East enders, had a warning from a psychic.
"I believe forewarned is forearmed," she said "I was
warned not to get married before my first marriage. I ignored that warning."
Unfortunately,
Wendy's first marriage ended after five months. "I just sit and
look back and try to work out where I've gone wrong, I think it is important
to understand yourself."
Mike Reid,
who plays Frank, spoke of the tragic loss of his son Mark who took his
own life in March 1990. Together with his wife Shirley they found solace
through Spiritualist mediums.
"They have come out with some amazing things that they could not
have known on their own.
"I have
been in touch with Mark through them, and that has been a great comfort.
One Spiritualist said that Mark was watching over us."
Another East Ender
star who has been helped by mediums is Jeannie Taylor who plays Lil
the second hand stall owner. "I have always had a belief in it,"
she said but was scared of it as well.
"I suppose
a lot of people are like that to begin with. It is just human nature."
When her sister-in-law passed, Jeannie visited a Spiritualist meeting.
"I made the decision to attend a Spiritualist church and got a
message from her almost immediately. Unfortunately, I was so upset I
caused problems with the communicators.
"After
making subsequent visits, I calmed myself down and received convincing
evidence on a number of occasions."
Jeannie has
her own personal astrologer and also believes she is a bit psychic herself.
"I have premonitions in dreams and can tell whether I'll like a
person or not almost immediately, but I would not describe myself as
a medium by any stretch of the imagination."
She has
received spiritual healing from June Brown (Dot Cotton). "She
rested her hands on the troubled area. I felt this terrific warmth.
Shortly afterwards my back felt a great deal better. June is a lovely
person and does absent healing regularly."
These
were tough years. It must have been an enormous strain nursing Chloe yet still
looking after her other children and continuing acting to make ends meet.
"She could not even sit on the floor
without toppling over." confessed June, "The paralysis in her throat
meant she could not digest anything except strained baby food until she was
16 months old."
In desperation, having been told by the
doctors that Chloe's condition was incurable, June sought the help of a healer
at the London Healing Mission. The results encouraged her:
"The healer put his hands on her
head and prayed for the strength of God to go through her
"Within a fortnight Chloe began to
crawl. By the age of two she was running about like any other child. she was
fully healed except for a very slight limp that she still has when she gets
tired."
Chloe is now an adult and June is now
a proud grandmother with her first grandchild born in 1986. (You'll need to
add any others if she's had more. I don't know.)
Perhaps it was being so close to tragedy
all her life and seeing her daughter suffer that triggered June Brown's own psychic powers.
Beneath that wrinkled exterior and busy body image must lie a sympathetic
heart for since the episode with Chloe June has discovered that she too has
the power to heal.
She believes that her psychic powers have
helped cure dozens of people. "They write from all over the country explaining
their problems. I pray for them for a month and I'm told I have helped heal
lots of men, women and children I have never met. I believe in the power of
prayer because I know it works. I am happy to help."
A brush with serious illness or death
is enough to change anyone's life. And June has had more than her fair share.
"My baby brother died of pneumonia when I was just a girl. Then one of
my sisters fell ill and died.
"My favourite uncle was killed in
a road accident and I found both of my grandparents dead in their beds."
While still young tragic June Brown had she lost her brother, sister and mum
and dad.
But perhaps the most horrific tragedy
happened when she lost her first husband, actor John Garley. It was while
visiting her sister that June's psychic powers switched on and told her something
was wrong. "I was sitting in her kitchen drinking tea when I suddenly
thought, 'I must go home.'
"The moment I got to the front door
I knew something was dreadfully wrong.
"When I went inside, I found my poor
husband lying unconscious by the gas fire."
He had attempted to take his own life by gassing himself.
When June found him he was just alive and June immediately called an ambulance.
But John died in hospital four days later.
June Brown's pain and compassion now finds
expression through tireless work for charity. Tragedy is often the trigger
for psychic and healing abilities. Her early confrontations with death have
drawn her close to the world that awaits us beyond the grave. She is naturally
sensitive and claims that she has seen spirit people.
One day she was walking with her friend
Stephanie and relaxing between appearances for a play that she was doing in
Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwicks. They came to an abandoned railway tunnel and
walked inside to have a look.
"We walked and walked, getting deeper
and deeper into the blackness but no matter how far we went we couldn't see
any light at the end.
"I was gripped by a sudden, inexplicable
fear. we had been walking for what seemed like hours but we could find no
end to the tunnel.
"I turned to my friend and said 'I
don't know why but I have a feeling that if we go any further we'll never
return'"
In a panic they both rushed out of the
darkness not daring to turn round. "The next day, we returned to the
same spot to look at the tunnel. But it had vanished. It simply wasn't there."
June has had other strange ghostly encounters worthy of the X-Files. For some years June lived with her second
husband Robert Arnold in an old, somewhat spooky, house in Folkestone, Kent
.
It all started when objects started to
move around the house by themselves."We quickly realised that we had
a very helpful ghost on our hands. One day I was in the kitchen preparing
a dinner party for my daughter and a cooking utensil went missing.
"I said out loud 'Where's that blasted
spoon?' And the next second a pan lid rattled on the other side of the kitchen.
I walked over to the pan and lifted up the lid and there was my spoon!"
June and Robert were convinced that it
was an uninvited phantom guest that was helping June with the chores. And
when June's young daughter Sopie experienced similar strange occurrences it
was the last straw. To know for certain they did some research.
"We discovered a previous occupant
of the house was an old lady who died. Her body wasn't found for some time.
"We felt very sad when we heard the
story. She was a very friendly ghost we even gave her a name- Alice!"
But June's psychic powers were greater
than she thought. She had only joked when she called the ghost Alice. Further
research of the properties deeds revealed the name of the old lady who lived
and died there: Alice!
In my opinion as a practicing psychic
and spirit medium June Brown has more than a pronounced female intuition.
She is psychic! She has healing powers, was aware when her first husband was
dying, and is in-tune with the spirit world.
She's also a very different lady to her
EastEnders character. She's intelligent, caring and a person that, surprisingly,
likes the fast lane. I see an aura of blue and green healing light around her. Welcome back June- we knew you'd
